About TISh

Thank you. Yes. Thank you.  I am so grateful to have lived a vibrant life! Cheers on my coming up on 50 years in this world, and I know that the way that I have experienced life, the fulfillment that I have felt, the experiences that I have shared with those that I love, the moments and time that have brought me the most joy, they all come through the experience of my body.

Our bodies are such a gift.

They allow us to run and experience the wind on our face.

They allow us to play in the waves in the ocean.

It’s the abilities of our bodies to do these miraculous things!

The way that we can taste our food, the way that we are able to experience pleasure in our bodies, the way that we can express ourselves in the world, the way that we move through it.

Our bodies are instruments in which we can fully live our lives. And I know that so many of us get busy building our careers, taking care of our families, doing everything for everyone else is such a dedication that women have to supporting others. But what about taking time to support ourselves?

And at times these women feel selfish, taking time out of their busy lives to focus on their bodies, their health, their strength.

There's moments where we think that 50 feels so far away or 60 or 70. And that we'll get for later, but then later comes. And sometimes it's too late. Other times it absolutely is not. But what I know is that in my own journey of being a trainer, walking through this path of understanding the body to deep levels through my degree, I can see that there are so many things that the body does for us.

I remember being in my early 20s and getting a phone call that my dad was in the emergency with a major heart attack was going to need a triple bypass.

He was my age. His late in his late 40s, the age that I am now, I can't even imagine my heart giving away, giving out on me at this moment in life.

I remember standing in this room where the doctor with his white coat came in with his glum face and said that this is serious, that genetically now I was high risk. He emphasized the importance of making healthy decisions and incorporating habits that will hopefully prevent this from happening to me.

That woke me up to how precious life truly is and how limited our time actually can be and how important it is that we focus now for our future.

I see countless people, almost everyone, that puts away money and saves for retirement. Financially preparing for the future. But so many of those people don't prepare or invest in their health for the future.

What is it? Why is it that we don't think about that? That we could have all the money saved in the world but we might not be here to enjoy it?

I have experience working with all kinds of people over the past 30 years. Celebrities, bodybuilders, professional athletes to people who just simply want to get fit. I have done my own journey of doing everything under the sun from marathons to fitness competitions, to Tough Mudder, because I wanted to be able to be in the arena and know i could help anyone.

I wanted to be able to not only have the knowledge, through my education, but to have the experience as well.

But the one who stands out the most in my heart is this beautiful 69 year old woman who called rickety little voice that she needed a hip replacement.  Her surgeon told her she was not strong enough for the replacement. They advised her to hire a trainer to see if she could build up enough strength to hopefully some day get her new hip.

Eva and i got to work.

Three, 30 minute strength sessions in her 600 square foot apartment. We had a suspension trainer and a few bands  - that was it. And at her six-month checkup, they told her that she that she no longer needed surgery. She no longer needed that hip replacement!

I was in complete shock but my experience with Eva taught me that at even 69 years young, you can build your body up enough to carry on pain free, independent life. This is exactly what we did for the next 11 years until cancer took her life at 80.

That decade of training Eva and so many of her friends (as you can imagine, after Eva’s success, my reputation sky rocketed amongst her peers) was the most impactful time of my career.

I trained over 10 women all over 70 years old, all with different abilities and quality of life. Some 80 year olds still running stairs with me, others much younger who were not quite as vibrant. Some not able to get out of bed on their own, or needed help getting off the toilet, and others confined to their walkers 24/7.

This was not only the most impactful time of my career, but it was also the hardest time. What I began to realize was that the only thing that differentiated the active, independent from the women who were not was how they lived their life in their 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Specifically, spending some time in the gym keeping their bodies strong.

My shift in thinking and approach to training clients occurred during this time. We were no longer training our bodies to be thin and look good, but we were training our bodies to be strong so we can live our best lives the whole way through!

Strong, independent for life - and if you didn’t care to train for that reason, I wasn’t interested in training you.

This is how my businesses has evolved over the years and why I train the best women all over the world!

And so let me add Ask you, do you want that quality of life right up to your last breath?

Do you want to be a strong and independent woman in every way? Mentally, emotionally and physically? Then what I say to my clients is that there are no excuses! With everything that our body does for us in a day, we owe it this commitment.

Can we not just give it a few hours of our time and attention and love a week? Because if we do, that little tiny bit will allow us to be strong in our bodies, which creates strength of connections, of relationships, a foundation, that we can truly see and experience our best life.

And I know, whatever age and stage you are in, whatever transition your body might be feeling, no matter where you are, we can work with it. But please don’t wait. Life can change in a moment. It is truly the most selfless thing that you can do to take care of that body of yours and to make sure that you are strong so that you can show up for yourself and those that you love and create the life that you desire with the fullness and richness of all the experience.

You are saving for retirement and planning for your future. Don't forget that your body is the most important thing to bring along that journey.
